 Research and Publications

a)     My present research efforts center around achievement of a suitable environment for research based higher education with an orientation towards Knowledge based Decision Support and  Natural Language Understanding. Some recent papers co-authored with my post-graduate research students and others are titled as follows.

"Enriching Data-Intensive Domain-Ontologies for Useful Transformation of Natural Language Queries" [Published in the International Journal of Computer Science and Network Security (IJCSNS), Vol. 10, Issue 7, July 2010]

"Analysis of Relationships among Diverse Types of Software Attributes for Assessing Quality Factors of Gaming Software" [Published in the International Journal of Computer Science and Network Security (IJCSNS), Vol. 10, Issue 5, May 2010]

"Recognition of Attribute Value Phrases in Natural Language Queries to Databases" [Published in the Proceedings of the International Conference on Data Management (Innovations and Advances in Data Management),  March 11-12, 2010, Ghaziabad, India]

"Isolating Significant Phrases in Common Natural Language Queries  to Databases" [Published in the Proceedings of the International Conference on Computer and Information Technology 2008 (ICCIT 2008), December 25-27, 2008, Khulna, Bangladesh]

      Appears in IEEEXplore Digital Library

"Morphological Analysis of Bangla Words for Universal Networking Language" [Published in the Proceedings of the International Conference on Digital Information Management 2008 (ICDIM 2008), November 13-16, 2008,  London, UK]

      Appears in IEEEXplore Digital Library

b)  From January 1991 to February 1994 a full independent research work related to designing a Decision Support System for market segmentation using analysis of correlation among various kinds of product characteristics was carried out at the then Department of Economic Cybernetics of the State Academy of Management (presently, State University of Management), Moscow, Russia.

Most substantial results of that research, as mentioned in the resolution of the final dissertation committee, were as follows:

i)       Methods of numeric and semantic processing of product characteristics' correlation for market segmentation have been developed.

ii)    Formalized structures and algorithms for the functional elements of a Machine Learning System for market segmentation have been built.

iii)   Detailed analysis of market conjuncture of accounting programs has been carried out.

iv)  Possibility of designing computer program models of a system for generating hypotheses about market segments has been established.

The research contributed towards the achievement of the  Ph.D. degree.

Major themes of the research were presented in the keynote paper titled "Artificial Intelligence - Knowledge Engineering: An Economic perspective" in the seminar organized by the Bangladesh Computer Society at the IFST Seminar Hall, BCSIR (Science Laboratory Campus) on the 7th December, 1995.

Some of the intermediate results of the research were published in the irregular publications (collections of works of post-graduate students) of the host institution.

c)    From September 1988 to June 1990 worked as a research assistant on part-time basis at the research laboratory of the Department of Electronic Calculating Machines of L'vov Polytechnic Institute (presently, National University "Lvivska Polytechnika"), Ukraine.

The research work was of a type of special assignment to an outstanding senior level student. And there I took active part in development of a medico-biological expert system.

The research work contributed significantly towards the achievement of the MS degree in Computer Engineering.
